There are some things we believe for no other reason than we need to believe them.

However we came to possess those beliefs, they’ve become an unshakeable part of our psyche – something we’ve built a piece of our foundation on & use as a springboard from one thing to the next.

This is what faith is.

Not religious faith, exactly. Moreso the concept of faith in general.

Faith goes beyond belief. It may be better built on evidence, but it doesn’t need it – it stands on its own two feet. Even when the world seems to be pushing us another way, we stand firm.

That can be as much a blessing as a curse in certain contexts.

The tighter we cling to ideas that us, the longer we prolong our suffering.

The less willing we are to let go and imagine things from a new perspective, the less likely it is that we’ll ever transcend our current circumstances.

When we’re happy with where we are, our beliefs are supporting us, and we feel empowered to move forward thanks to those ideas – we’re winning.

The strategy that lets us attain this position is less important than merely finding something that works in the first place.

But if we’re not exactly where we want to be yet…

If things aren’t quite going our way, despite our best efforts…

If we feel as if there’s another path hiding somewhere just out of view…

It might be time to shake the unshakeable.

To question the things we’ve held to be unquestionable until now.

To let go of what we have in order to let something else come into our awareness.

Belief only serves us for as long as it serves.

When it leaves us weaker with it than we are without it, it’s time to let go.
